Dual Computer Science Degree Programme 2024

Reference No.: IT 2024/7

The Department of Experiment Control and Data Acquisition is the interface between the central IT departments and the scientists at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin. Our tasks include the installation and control of measuring stations and experimental systems. We also design, develop and maintain software systems.
As a student in our dual study programme, you will become part of the development teams and have the opportunity to actively participate in many diverse and exciting tasks.
The programme is run in cooperation with the Berlin School of Economics and Law (Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht, HWR). Lectures, seminars and exercises at the university will provide you with the basic theoretical knowledge you need to master the practical parts at the Helmholtz Centre Berlin. Each of the six semesters contains a theoretical and a practical component, which build on each other to teach you how software development can be used to support excellent science.
During your time at HZB, you will work on application and system programming tasks according to the progress of your studies. These tasks are mainly driven by the needs of the scientific areas in the research centre: For example, you will have the opportunity to apply the object-oriented programming you learned at university to the extension of a coating system for solar cells. You will be supported in your projects by highly qualified engineers and developers.
