The Logistics-Customs department is a motivated and qualified team that supports the national and international movement of goods for the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin in a service-oriented manner.As an employee of this department with a focus on customs, dispatching and recieving goods, and warehouse logistics, you can expect a wide range of tasks in which you can contribute your experience and know-how in a targeted manner.
Your Tasks
Customs clearance for the import and export of goods and materials- Selection and timely initiation of a suitable customs procedure for the import and export of materials and goods, taking the specified deadlines for shipment into account.
- Carrying out and monitoring customs procedures for the import and export of materials and goods in compliance with the relevant customs regulations and legal requirements.
- Preparing and checking the required export and import documentation.
- Ensuring compliance with all tax regulations, particulalry the correct payment of import sales tax (EUSt).
- Central point of contact for customs matters of all kinds, including communication with the relevant departments involved.
National and international shipping of goods
- Professional guidance of consigners in the national and international shipment of goods ensuring proper execution and compliance with all relevant national and international legal regulations.
- Researching and obtaining offers for the adequate transportation of goods, while considering a variety of special requirements.
- Preparing and, if necessary, completing the required shipping documents.
- Picking and labeling of shipments in accordance with applicable legislation.
Receiving and issuing goods, warehouse logistics
- Inspection of incoming goods on site, checking for completeness and intactness and, if necessary, initiation of a complaint procedure.
- Checking and recording deliveries in the ERP system.
- Operating industrial trucks (e.g. forklift trucks).
- Disposition and organization of the machine, tool, and semi-finished product warehouse.
- Processing warehouse orders and blanks according to customer specifications.
Your Profile
- Completed training in a technical or commercial profession
- Sound knowledge of customs and the commercial processing of deliveries and services in accordance with procurement regulations and VOL as well as with regard to incoming goods inspection
- Authorization for lifting and industrial trucks (industrial truck license) or the willingness to obtain one
- Very good professional knowledge of shipping (export and import) and legal regulations, including customs code, HGB, ADR, ADSp, VOL and international delivery and payment terms (e.g. Incoterms)
- Good knowledge of MS Office programs and ideally knowledge of ERP systems (SAP)
- Extensive technical understanding and sound knowledge of tools, semi-finished products, machines, and materials are an advantage
- Independent and systematic work ethic, commitment, ability to work in a team, sense of responsibility and good people skills
- Good written and spoken English
- You set high standards for your work and do not lose your head or sense of humor even in hectic times

The employment contract is unlimited. The salary is based on the Collective Agreement for the German Public Service (TVöD-Bund).
