PhD student (f/m/d) Tomographic (3D) characterization of structure-property relationships of polymer battery electrodes

Within the DFG Priority Program "Polymer-based Batteries" (SPP 2248), in which about 50 people collaborate on the development of novel polymer battery electrodes, we are searching for you for the PhD topic "Tomographic characterization of structure-property relationships of polymer-based battery electrodes". You will play a central role in the network of the 3D characterization of the novel polymer materials produced. State-of-the-art tomographic imaging techniques will be used to investigate the 3D structures/morphologies in order to better understand the functional relationships to battery properties. Your goal is to optimize the 3D structures of the electrodes and thus contribute to overcoming the current major hurdles to the development of long-lasting, improved polymer batteries.

You will work in the group for "Imaging Techniques" at the Institute of Applied Materials Science. The group consists of an interdisciplinary team from physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering and works on cutting-edge topics in the field of batteries, fuel cells and hydrogen generation as well as on the development of novel imaging measurement and 3D evaluation techniques.

Fixed term contract for 36 months. The salary is based on the Collective Agreement for the German Public Service (TVöD-Bund).
